Bobby Haas

Founder, Collector and Curator of Haas Moto Museum

Every edifice to the arts must have a guiding spirit, a catalyst for its creation. Rarely has one individual shaped a museum so completely as Robert B. Haas—known to all simply as “Bobby.” Founder, benefactor, curator, designer, builder, and dreamer, Bobby left his indelible fingerprints on every facet of the Haas Moto Museum. His infectious passion animated the entire team and transformed an improbable vision into a landmark of motorcycle artistry.

To call Bobby a Renaissance man is the kindest and truest tribute. Time and again, he entered new worlds as a novice—whether photography in his late 40s, where he became one of the most celebrated aerial photographers in National Geographic history, or motorcycles in his 60s, where he created a museum unlike any other.

In 2016, Bobby and his partner, Stacey Mayfield, began traveling the world in search of the rare and the remarkable. Together they assembled a collection of more than 230 motorcycles in just five years, meeting visionary builders, collecting extraordinary works, and weaving a global adventure that would become the soul of the Museum.

Though Bobby passed away in September 2021, his spirit lives in every corner of The Haas. Today, Stacey and the Haas team carry forward the mission they began together—to honor Bobby’s legacy, preserve the artistry they discovered, and ensure that The Haas remains, in Bobby’s own words, “pound-for-pound, the most stunning exhibition of motorcycle artistry anywhere.”
